‘Creating art that stirs the soul’
It is a new season for Karen Ahuja. She moved to Arkansas in in 2011, and began painting when her youngest went to kindergarten. With the support of her family and friends, she has explored her new passions. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with an Associate degree in graphic design and a BA in Business. She has a MBA from Xavier University. This new season has allowed her to combine her knowledge of graphic design with her new found passion for acrylic painting. Karen shared,
“I feel like I am in SPRING!
I am loving the sense of community and support
that allows me to follow my heart and draw inspiration
from the world around me.”
Karen Ahuja describes her paintings as energetic, bright, and impressionistic. She enjoys finding subject matter that stirs the soul. Each painting has a strong composition based on graphic design principals. Using color and contrast, she evokes an emotional response from the viewer.
“I use my craft to communicate what I am experiencing
through a visual medium. When a view responds
(either positively or negatively), I know I have touched
that person in a way that words are not able.
I feel blessed that I am able to use my passion for painting
as a way to relieve stress. Often the emotions I am feeling
can be expressed or converted in the process of creating my painting.”

Leah Cowden graduated from the University of AR in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and currently lives in Fayetteville with her husband, two children, and 5 pets. She bases all of her work on the simple idea that any original design flows from the heart.
Her passion for art beganat a very young age when she realized that drawing was a way to express her feelings. Today, that same cathartic element she discovered as a child is apparent in her art.
Many pieces of her work have been purchased by private collectors throughout the country and locally. In 2014 she received the honor of having her art sold nationally at IO Metro as the winner of the IO Metro local artist contest.
Since then, Leah has been featured at various local venues and art receptions including Art and Cocktails in the Garden by Botanical Gardens and Art Ventures (formerly Fayetteville Underground). She has also been a part of the local organization Momentum.
